Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued Level 1 warnings for damaging winds, warning of possible localised disruptions, travel difficulties, and hazardous outdoor conditions.

SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS

A. Yellow Level 1 Warning: Damaging winds resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea are expected between Cape Point and Plettenberg Bay.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over Khai-Ma and over Kai Garib local municipalities of Northern Cape, the Central and Little Karoo local municipalities of Western Cape, Sarah Baartman, Chris Hani, and Raymond Mhlaba local municipalities of Eastern Cape.

Weather conditions and UVB forecast in South Africa’s provinces

Gauteng

Gauteng can expect hot in the north, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated thundershowers and showers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High

Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, becoming cloudy in the evening. It will be hot in places in the Lowveld.

Limpopo

In Limpopo, partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, becoming cloudy in the evening. It will be hot in places in the Lowveld.

North West

North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon thundershowers and showers in the east.

Free State

In Free State, partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the extremeeast.

Northern Cape

The day will start cloudy along the coast at first, otherwise fine and warm to hot. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south- westerly.

Western Cape

Partly cloudy and warm to hot. A chance of Light rain is expected over the south-western parts in the morning. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north- westerly to westerly but strong along the south coast from the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is Very High

Eastern Cape

The Western half: Fine and hot to very hot. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south- westerly.

The Eastern half: The day will start partly cloudy in the north, otherwise fine and hot to very hot. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south- westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal

Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, becoming light southerly to south-easterly in the south by the afternoon
