Mission
- Provide South Africans, and friends of South Africa with the opportunity to involve themselves, financially and personally, in existing community development projects operating in South Africa.
- Channel financial support into existing projects which help to build the country from the bottom-up.
- Provide honest informative feedback to each project supporter on how their donation has been spent.
Promote the recovery and development of our communities and society. Whilst the starting point is through financial assistance, the broader goal is to foster mutual understanding
- Involve each supporter personally in a project via project news and feedback.
Seek partnership, rather than dependency, and the focus is on upliftment of all involved through building relationships between donors, GUMBOOTS and beneficiaries.
Founders
Gumboots is a non-profit organization established in South Africa and registered as a UK charity.
Via this web-site, individuals are invited to select a project from the Gumboots’ Portfolio which they may wish to support. Project support is through a monthly donation for a specified period of time. See Become a Supporter in the UK, or Become a Supporter in the SA, for further information.
Vision
Gumboots aims to differentiate itself from other charities by building relationships between supporters and projects. Projects agree to be transparent allowing supporters to see exactly how their money is spent and what has been achieved. Each person making a donation thus becomes a stakeholder in the success of a project and is given the opportunity to involve themselves with quality community based projects that are making a positive contribution to change and the upliftment of fellow South Africans.
Newsletters and short reports are sent to project supporters and posted on the web-site every 2 months.
By assessing existing independent projects, NGOs and charities operating in South Africa, Gumboots has put together a portfolio of projects for donor support. Gumboots does not initiate or manage projects itself but facilitates individuals to support existing projects and monitors how donations are spent.
- Gumboots will ensure that supporters know exactly where their money is going – Gumboots is not about money disappearing into a bottomless pit.
- Gumboots is about partnerships, sharing and working together to fulfill dreams. It is about playing a positive part in South Africa – Gumboots is not about creating dependency by simply giving money.
