The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its official Best XI for the recently concluded tournament.

Senegal were crowned champions at the expense of host nation Morocco who were strong favourites to win the title.

And as a result, there are no susprises that the two teams dominate CAF’s Best XI with four players each.

Nigeria also make the cut with three of their stars included in the Best XI after they scooped bronze.

Morocco has goalkeeper Yassinne Bounou, right-back Achraf Hakimi whose inclusion is controversial given that he did not start the tournament with the team.

The other two Moroccan players in the Best XI are Noussair Mazzraoui and attacker Brahim Diaz.

AFCON 2025 champions Senegal are represented by Moussa Niakhate, Idrissa Gueye, Pape Gueye and Sadio Mane.

Victor Osimhen, Ademola Look and though-tackling Calvin Bassey complete the continent’s Best XI.

WHEN IS THE NEXT TOURNAMENT?

The next edition of AFCON, which will be the 36th, is scheduled to get underway in August 2027.

It will be co-hosted by three East African countries, namely Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.

Senegal will go into that AFCON as defending champions provided they qualify for the tournament itself.
