Bafana Bafana‘s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) journey has ended abruptly, and they are now expected to return home from Morocco.

Hugo Broos’ men were ousted in the Last 16 of this year’s AFCON by Cameroon, suffering a 2-1 on Monday night.

That was Bafana Bafana’s second defeat in four matches, and the one that proved costly to their dream of lifting the continental trophy.

The other defeat was against Egypt in the group stages while they won two – 2-1 over Angola and 3-2 over Zimbabwe.

WHEN ARE BAFANA BAFANA RETURNING HOME FROM AFCON?

Now, with the AFCON 2025 dream shattered, Bafana Bafana are scheduled to fly out of Morocco on Tuesday night.

They will be expected then arrive at OR Tambo International Airport in the early hours Wednesday morning.

Bafana Bafana usually have their press conferences immediately after arriving from such tournaments and high-profile games.

However, it is unclear, at this stage, if Broos and his Bafana Bafana players will address the media.

WILL THE NATIONAL TEAM RECEIVE A WARM WELCOME?

Given that the country is disappointed and sad with Bafana Bafana’s early exit from the AFCON, one wonders if they will receive a warm welcome.

And that’s because the majority expected them to do better than in the last edition where they returned home with bronze medals.

It was the first time in 23 years that Bafana Bafana came back from the AFCON with some in their hands.

Broos will now shift focus on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the US which is set to get underway on 11 June.

Bafana Bafana will take on co-hosts Mexico in their opening World Cup encounter on the same day (11 June).
