AFCON 2025: World Sports Betting paying out for Morocco ‘win’

The World Sports Betting will not wait for Senegal’s appeal with CAS to pay bettors who predicted Morocco’s AFCON final win.

The World Sports Betting (WSB) has announced that bettors who predicted a Morocco win against Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final will be paid.

This comes on the back of a CAF Appeal Board decision to strip Senegal of their AFCON title.

On 18 January, Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 to claim the continental trophy, but the encounter was not short of drama.

Morocco were initially awarded a controversial penalty which saw a number Senegal players temporarily walk off the pitch.

However, they did return to the pitch to allow Morocco to take the penalty, only for Brahim Diaz to be denied by Edouard Mendy.

Now, the CAF Appeal Board has declared Morocco as the new AFCON champions after handing them a 3-0 win over Senegal.

And questions were asked by a number of bettors as to whether or not they can claim their payouts, and WSB is doing just that, giving people ‘their money’.

“Morocco bettors…. You are getting PAID,” said WSB in a LinkedIn post.

“AFCON just delivered one of the wildest twists.

“Morocco crowned champions.

“And World Sports Betting are paying out!”.

“Following the change in AFCON result, we are paying all outright bets on Morocco.”

SENEGAL HEAD TO CAS

Meanwhile, as reported on SA People, Senegal have since made their intentions clear that they will appeal CAF Appeal Board’s decision with Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

They have at least 10 days to lodge their appeal, and once they do that, CAF Appeal Board’s ruling will be null and void until CAS ruls on the matter.
