What a week. Bafana dumped the mighty Morocco out of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), last Sunday.

The result set up a quarter-final battle with Cape Verde.

A goal by Orlando Pirates striker Evidence Makgopa and a fabulous free-kick by Teboho Mokoena sealed progress to the final eight.

Speaking to the media after the game, Broos saluted Mokoena.

“Teboho did a fantastic performance today [Tuesday night], he’s really the motor of the midfield and he’s good for our team also. Teboho grew also in this tournament, he became a little bit good but not like in his last games. He’s the guy who makes big distance in the game, have good passes, so, he’s a very good player and helps us a lot to do these performances,” the Broos said via SABC.

R47 MILLION OPPORTUNITY

In addition to pride and history, Saturday’s quarter-final clash will be a R47 million match.

According to the Confederation of African Football’s (caf) new Afcon prize money, Saturday’s clash, at 22:00, between Bafana Bafana and Cape Verde, will be a R47 million match.

How? Winning the quarterfinals to qualify for the semifinals guarantees $ 2,500,000 (R47 million).
