Benni enjoyed his time at Pirates but NEVER dumped Chiefs

Benni McCarthy won a treble with Orlando Pirates but even that was not enough to make him stop supporting Kaizer Chiefs!

Former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy has revealed that his love for Kaizer Chiefs never faded away even when he was playing for Orlando Pirates.

McCarthy has always been open about supporting Amakhosi from a young age, but he never got the chance to play for them.

Upon his return from Europe in 2011, McCarthy looked set to join then Ajax Cape Town but Pirates presented him with an offer he could not refuse.

He would go on to score a brace on his Soweto Derby debut against Chiefs to announce his return to PSL football.

Nonetheless, McCarthy said once he got home from either Pirates matches or training, he remained a Chiefs fan.

And McCarthy is not the only former Pirates player who grew up supporting Chiefs.

SA People recently reported on Mohau Nkota’s love for Chiefs following his move to Saudi Arabia from Pirates.

BENNI: WINNING TREBLE WITH PIRATES WAS NEVER GOING TO CHANGE MY LOVE FOR CHIEFS

“I always wanted to play for Man United. So, Kaizer Chiefs and Man United, those are my two teams,” said McCarthy at his book launch.

“I was fortunate enough to win a treble with Orlando Pirates but it’s never going to change me. I love Pirates and I loved my time at that club but once I get home, I’m ‘love and peace’.

“So, Chiefs and Pirates were my hearts, and I always to play both those clubs or coach both clubs,” added McCarthy.
