Cricket World Cup: Bavuma spotted training despite concerns

Proteas captain Temba Bavuma sustained a right hamstring strain during the Cricket World Cup game against Afghanistan

Proteas captain Temba Bavuma was spotted training with the team on Monday despite injury concerns. The 33-year-old is still doubtful to play in the Cricket World Cup semi-final match against Australia on Thursday after he sustained a shamstring strain last week.

This past weekend, Cricket South Africa said Bavuma had “showed an improvement overnight” as per ESPN.

It was speculated that the struggling captain could go for a scan.

BAVUMA COULD FEATURE IN THE CRICKET WORLD CUP SEMI-FINAL

“Proteas captain Temba Bavuma sustained a right hamstring strain during the match against Afghanistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday night,” CSA said in a statement.

“He was assessed by the Proteas medical team today and showed an improvement overnight. He will continue to be monitored and managed by the medical team.”

Bavuma, who has had a good year with the bat, has struggled to find form in this World Cup,

In seven innings, the Proteas captain has only reached a high score of 35.

The Proteas face Australia this Thursday in Kolkata as they look to reach their first ever World Cup final.
