Hugo Broos’ men are scheduled to take on co-hosts at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on 11 June.
However, authorities are under immense pressure to assure everyone of their safety after the country was hit by a surge of violence this past weekend.
FIFA WORLD CUP: WHY BAFANA BAFANA’S CAMPAIGN MAY BE AFFECTED
This past weekend, acts of violence erupted in Guadalajara following the killing of cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes also known as El Mencho.
El Mencho was killed during a military operation in Tapalpa, and cartel members retaliated by fighting fire with fire.
According to reports, those cartel members set vehicles ablaze and erected burning roadblocks on key roads.
These led to major disruptions in Guadalajara and surrounding cities – and law enforcement agencies had to work overtime in order to calm the situation.
Now, with Bafana Bafana set to be based in Mexico, it remains to be seen if the situation would have been dealt with in the next three months.
For Mexico, the pressure is mounting to ensure that security measures are in place for next month’s FIFA World Cup play-offs.

According to FIFA’s official re-sale platform, the Mexico vs Bafana Bafana is listed as a Category Three.
Now, as of 12 February, the encounter at Azteca Stadium on June 11 was listed at $5,324 which is in the region of R84 260,28.
This is a huge increase in the ticket price for this encounter which was initially set at $895 which is in the region of R14 172,59.
This excludes travelling, food and accommodation, and it’s surely expensive for an ordinary South African.
