FIFA World Cup: How many games will be staged in the US?
The US and its president Donald Trump continue to make headlines with less than five months before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is upon us, and a lot has been said about the US and its president Donald Trump.
It is now common knowledge that the Trump administration has denied no fewer than 75 countries US entry.
Fifteen of those countries have qualified for the FIFA World Cup, meaning fans may be forced to watch their nations from home.
The reason for that is to ensure that ticket requests meet the application requirements to ensure fairness and offer equal opportunity for all the applicants, said the US government.
Now, Trump has stepped up the Greenland annexation demand, and some government leaders from the qualified nations have threatened to boycott this addition of the FIFA World Cup.
And that’s if the Greenland deal is imposed on them although Trump has said he ‘won’t use force’.
Now, perhaps the question everyone is asking could be why FIFA World Cup news are centered around the US although they will be co-hosting with Mexico and Canada.

FIFA WORLD CUP GAMES: THE BREAKDOWN
Well, all FIFA World Cup news are centered around Trump and the US because they have been allocated the most games.
With the increase of participants from 32 to 48, there will be a total of 104 matches played at this year’s global showpiece.
And the US has been handed the majority of those matches (78) while Mexico and Canada will host 13 matches each.
Furthermore, all the matches from the quarterfinals until the final on 19 July will played in the US.
Mexico will host the opening ceremony where they will take on South Africa on Thursday, 11 June.
WHO WILL THE US FACE AT THE FINALS?
The US Men’s National Team also known as (USMNT) is in Group D, and they will face Australia, Paraguay and whoever wins the UEFA Playoff C.
The UEFA Playoff C consists of Turkey, Slovakia, Kosovo and Romania – the inter-continental playoffs will be played in March this year.
