Former FIFA President Sepp Blatter has joined calls for fans to boycott World Cup matches in the US.

The US will co-host this edition of the global showpiece with Canada and Mexico between June and July.

And while the tournament itself is just months away, fans of 15 qualified nations have been left stranded.

Donald Trump’s administration policies have led to this – as fans have had their visa applications paused.

The Trump administration said this was to allow the department to re-examine procedures for screening and vetting applicants.

Now, Blatter urged fans to stay away from attending matches in the US. As previously mentioned, 78 of the 104 games will be played in the US.

Blatter’s comments came after Swiss anti-corruption lawyer Mark Pieth urged fans to boycott matches in the US due to incidents involving immigration services.

ARE SEPP BLATTER’S COMMENTS JUSTIFIED?

For a man who served as FIFA President for 17 years, Blatter’s comments may not be justified at this time of confusion.

Perhaps, the 89-year-old should have stayed away from the football politics that involve FIFA.

Blatter oversaw five different World Cup tournaments as president between 1998 and 2015.
