History Makers: McCarthy family enter Kaizer Chiefs record books
Fabian McCarthy’s son, Aden, scored his first goal for Kaizer Chiefs against Golden Arrows on Tuesday to emulate his father.
Kaizer Chiefs have had three McCarthy players on their books but only two are related – Fabian and Aden.
The other McCarthy is none other Jerome; Benni’s elder brother who was signed from the now defunct Santos.
Now, on Tuesday, Aden ensured that he enters the club’s record books as Chiefs beat Golden Arrows 1-0.

KAIZER CHIEFS: MCCARTHY SON EMULATES FATHER WITH A GOAL
Fabian is a father to Aden, and he also played for Chiefs where he cemented his legendary status in local football.
He played for Amakhosi between 2003 and 2008, and soon after joining the Soweto giants, Aden was born.
Now, on 14 September 2005, when Aden was barely two years old, Fabian scored against Golden Arrows as Chiefs registered a comfortable 3-1 in Durban.
And almost 21 years later, Aden found the back of the net against Golden Arrows in what was his first goal for Chiefs to help them collect maximum points at FNB Stadium.
In doing so, he emulated his father, and subsequently entered the history books by becoming the first father and son duo to score for Chiefs against the same opponents in the PSL era.
ADEN REFLECTS ON MILESTONE
“It’s quite interesting. I was two years old when my dad scored against Arrows in 2005, and knowing that I emulated him makes it historic,” Aden told the club’s website.
“I was not aware that he had done that and I was not expecting that I would do the same.
“It is amazing that my first goal happened against a team that my father also scored against, as it was my first goal for the Club and will be one for the history books, one to remember,” added the 21-year-old.
