Hugo Broos shared his excitement as Bafana Bafana prepares to face Nigeria in a nail-biting AFCON clash on Wednesday evening.

Ahead of their eagerly anticipated Afcon thriller against NigeriaBafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos is excited as he calls the encounter a special one.

The Belgian boss or coach, Broos says the Bafana clash will not be easy because Nigeria are a tough opponent and have done well so far at the Afcon showpiece.

After beating Cape Verde in the previous Afcon round, Bafana are now geared to meet the Super Eagles in a special tie and an excited Broos speaks.

At the same time, Bafana defender Grant Kekana says they are expecting a tough thriller against a team coached by José Peseiro.

Looking at the progress of the West Africans, Nigeria came into the biennial tournament in disarray with bonus rows and reports of non-payments with head coach Peseiro.

A former Afcon winner with Cameroon back in 2017, Broos will look to repeat the same feat with Bafana and he is excited to meet Nigeria in the semis.

In addition, Broos will pin his hopes on his skipper, Ronwen Williams to down Nigeria as he saved four penalties for Bafana against the Islanders.

“I think Nigeria is a team that has become better and better [throughout the competition] when I saw them [against Angola] I saw a very good team, with a very good striker, a few good players,” Bafana boss Broos said about a special Nigeria thriller.

“(Ademola) Lookman, the one who scored the goal, very good player, so we have to analyse a bit more because we didn’t have the time [before the quarter-final].

“We know now that it’s us in the semi-finals – so we’ll analyse as soon as we can and see how we can use their weaknesses in the team but also be aware of the qualities they have.

“It’s special for both teams, in a few months we play against each other for the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup, so it can be a test for both of us.”

BAFANA DEFENDER KEKANA JOINS BROOS ON NIGERIA PLAYERS

Speaking about the upcoming semi-final clash and thriller versus the Nigerians, Kekana believes they will need to do better.

“It will be another tough encounter against another tough team,” added Mamelodi Sundowns defender Kekana about facing Nigeria.

“They (Nigeria) have good players and I think it will need a lot from us.

“We will do a lot of digging and analysis. It is a game we can’t wait to play.”
