Kaizer Chiefs are third on the log, two points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and a point behind second-placed Orlando Pirates.

This despite growing calls from a section of Amakhosi fans for the club to appoint a new coach.

As things stand, Chiefs are led by both Cedric Kaze and Khalid Ben Youssef who are expected to be in charge of the team until the end of the season.

The pair first arrived at Chiefs as Nasreddine Nabi’s assistants but they remained with the club even after the Tunisian mentor was shown the exit door.

To some, both Kaze and Ben Youssef have done well as co-coaches but to others, they have not improved the team.

HOW KAIZER CHIEFS COMPARE TO LAST SEASON

As previously mentioned, Kaizer Chiefs are third on the Betway Premiership log, and they are have collected 27 points from 14 games.

They have recored seven wins, six draws and a single defeat in those 14 league games.

It is also worth mentioning that the Glamour Boys have kept a whopping 10 cleansheets, thanks to Brandon Petersen.

Last season, Chiefs were in position five at this stage of the campaign (after 14 games) with 21 points.

They had recorded six wins, three draws and had suffered five defeats. They looked very unconvincing at the back.

Amakhosi ended up finishing outside the top eight bracket for a second successive season.

STRONG TITLE CONTENDERS?

It is too early for anyone to think of Chiefs as strong contenders for the league title, especially after being a bottom-table club for two seasons.

However, given their recent performances and ability to grind results, one cannot rule Chiefs out of the title race altogether.
