In a bombshell report on FAR Post, Itumeleng Khune reportedly faces suspension and demotion for alleged misconduct, which includes arriving at training under the influence of alcohol.

According to the exclusive report, it’s stated that “Khune arrived for training on Wednesday morning, showing signs of someone under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to undergo tests. The results of the tests reportedly confirmed that Khune was indeed under the influence of alcohol. He was immediately sent home.”

The matter is understandably said to be taken very seriously by the club, with the veteran now facing suspension and likely demotion, which could see him stripped of the club captaincy.

IS ITUMELENG KHUNE HEADING FOR A SAD CULMINATION TO HIS CAREER AT CHIEFS?

There are other issues that have plagued Khune’s swansong season at Chiefs, having recently divided opinion for publicly discussing the personal issues of teammate Brandon Petersen.

“We [players] know what he is going through, and we’re trying to help him,” Khune was quoted as saying by Sunday World. “Even the club has provided resources for him by bringing in Dr Henning Gericke, who is a psychologist, just to discover what he is going through on and off the field.

“So, they have been having sessions and you could see that Brandon has changed his way of doing things. He is not himself.”

MORE THAN ONE RECENT INDISCRETION

The veteran also apparently came in for criticism after allegedly refusing to do an interview at the chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung’s Hall of Fame induction event that recently took place.

There is also talk that he contradicted the club’s earlier announcement of his impending retirement.

It’s all come in what is increasingly turning out to be a very disappointing final season for Khune at a club that is so close to his heart.
