Itumeleng Khune must become a coach or quit Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs management is rumoured to have given goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune an ultimatum – become a coach, or quit the team.
Itumeleng Khune appears to have been handed a career-defining ultimatum.
He will either have to hang up his gloves and become a coach or leave Kaizer Chiefs.

That choice will be tough to make for a man synonymous with Amakhosi.
A batch of contract renewals at Kaizer Chiefs could spell bad news for Itumeleng Khune if he even wants to stay at Naturena after this season.
The long-term relationship between Khune and Kaizer Chiefs has soured this term particularly.

The stopper was suspended for allegedly turning up to training three sheets to the wind.
Fellow goalkeepers Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen have received contract extensions this week.
“Bruce, ‘Mshini’ [Ngcobo] and Brandon have shown immense potential as Chiefs players and have displayed great dedication to the club,” Motaung Jr said according to Times LIVE.
“We believe in their abilities and are confident they will continue to be an integral part of our team’s success in the coming years. We are excited to see them reach new heights.”
It is also no secret that Kaizer Chiefs are courting Nigeria and Chippa United stopper Stanley Nwabili.
Kaizer Chiefs seem to have envisioned a future where Khune transitioned into the coaching team.
NOT THE PLAYER’S VISION
However, Khune’s vision is at cross purposes with that as he feels he can play into his 40s and even harbours ambitions of playing for the national team again.
Khune’s loss appears to have been Bvuma’s gain as he has secured an extension despite being on the fringes for much of this season.
He enjoyed a run as the No 1 just before the break and looks set to hold that spot afterwards.
“I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to continue representing Kaizer Chiefs,” he said.
“This club has been my home for years and I am highly motivated to work harder for our fans and bring more success to the gold and black jersey.”
With the Nedbank Cup approaching, Cavin Johnson’s choice of goalkeepers could say a lot about the long-term future.
We could see Bvuma in the league and Petersen in the cup with Khune frozen out.
