South Africans took to social media on Monday to congratulate Banyana’s Janine Van Wyk for receiving her 185th cap for South Africa.

Janine van Wyk has set a new African record for the most capped player [male or female] after making 185 appearances for Banyana Banyana.

DiskiTimes reports that Banyana Banyana’s Van Wyk is officially Africa’s most-capped international footballer of all time.

Van Wyk received her 185th cap for South Africa on Monday, 4 December in the WAFCON qualifier against Burkina Faso.

The 36-year-old played her final game for Banyana on Monday after making her debut for South Africa 18 years ago.

South Africans took to social media this week to congratulate the Banyana Banyana defender.
