Jordan Ayew debunks the talk that Ghana players lack commitment to the national team jersey at Afcon, saying they will force things against Egypt on Thursday.

The seasoned Ghana star says they are still hungry to fight for the Afcon title and will do their best against the Pharaohs.

Ayew reacts to the criticism following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cape Verde in their opening Group B Afcon encounter – he debunks the lack of commitment.

Ghana are under pressure to challenge for the Afcon title as they are also touted as favourites and Ayew and his teammates have come under scrutiny.

According to GhanaSoccerNet, Ayew quickly refuted the talk that Chris Hutton’s troops lack the commitment to restore their pride at Afcon.

In an Afcon pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Ayew quickly disagreed with the talk of a lack of commitment in the Black Stars camp.

While the West African side enjoys an abundance of individual talents, the Black Stars of Ghana have experienced a decline in recent years.

The statistics reveal that since 2017, Ayew and his teammates have only won one of their last 10 Afcon matches.

“Well, first of all, I don’t agree with that. No one lacks commitment. Everyone who plays football, this is bread and butter, and everyone gives this 100%,” says Ghana star Ayew.

The talented Black Star and brother to Andre, Ayew adds that sometimes things don’t go their way in football but they want a victory against Mohamed Salah’s side.

“Sometimes things go your way, sometimes things don’t go your way. But we need to force things, and tomorrow – we’re going to force things, and we’ll see after,” adds Ayew.

“I think we need to do more, that’s for sure, and we are ready to do more, and we’re going to do more, so nobody should worry about that.”
