Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has admitted that he’s interested in replacing Molefi Ntseki on a permanent basis at Naturena.

Johnson took charge of his second league match on Wednesday, guiding Chiefs to a thrilling 3-2 win over Cape Town Spurs.

Having come in barely a month ago as Amakhosi’s Head of Academy, Johnson was thrown into the deep end when the club reshuffled their technical team.

Ntseki left while Arthur Zwane was demoted to the development, and Johnson stepped in and retained Dillon Sheppard as his assistant.

Now, asked after the Spurs game if he’s keen to take over the reigns at Chiefs on a permanent basis, Johnson admitted he’d like to.

As things stand, Chiefs are in the market for a permanent coach but chances are that Johnson would be considered if the team does well.

“It’s something that appeals to me,” Johnson said told reporters.

JOHNSON’S BIGGEST TEST AS KAIZER CHIEFS COACH

Johnson is facing his biggest test as Chiefs coach this weekend as he’s about to lead the team against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.

This will be the first Soweto derby of the season, and it will take place at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
