A former Kaizer Chiefs star has hinted that former teammate at the club Khama Billiat will return to international football.

Billiat retired from the Zimbabwean national team to concentrate on club matters, while still a Chiefs player.

It was in 2021 when Billiat hung up his international boots. Now his former teammate for both Zimbabwe and Chiefs, Willard Katsande has hinted of a possible return for the winger. In a rather cryptic post on X, the former defensive midfielder said that the Yadah FC star will be ‘influential’ against Bafana Bafana.

KATSANDE HINTS AT ZIMBABWE RETURN BILLIAT RETURN

Bafana Bafana and Zimbabwe are set to clash in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on 11 June in Bloemfontein. That post by Katsande sent many football followers into a frenzy. This is because, Billiat has not announced anything pertaining to coming out of International football retirement. But because the duo are close, it’s believed the former tough as nails midfielder may know something on the matter.

“KHAMA BILLIAT will be instrumental  in our up coming World Cup Qualifiers vs LESOTHO & SOUTH AFRICA .” Wrote Katsande on X.

Another possible hint could be a statement Billiat made when joining Yadah FC. He seemed to open up the possibility of a possible return to the Zimbabwean national team.

“If everything is enjoyable, you never know. I’m not promising anything, but i love my country so much, and now that I’m back home and feeling so much loved, I can still change my mind (to play for the Warriors),” said Billiat to Soccer24 as per KickOff.com

IS HE READY?

Now according to a source speaking to Soccer-Laduma chances of Billiat returning for Zimbabwe are in a limbo.

“Seriously speaking, his chances of being in the team are 50/50 at the moment. He is one of the best locally based players who could be selected into the national team. He has done very well since he came back from Kaizer Chiefs and if they will select the team based on form he should definitely be one of the players in the team. The only thing that disturbed his season so far was the red card that he got in the other game but apart from that he has been doing very well. His experience will also be needed in the team. They need a player like him to boost the morale of the team mainly when they go to play against teams like South Africa and Nigeria in this group. So, personally I think be will be in the squad to face South Africa,” said the source.

Would it be the right move for Zimbabwe to select Billiat against Bafana Bafana?
