PSL rivals look to hijack first Orlando Pirates signing?

Orlando Pirates may see a reported first signing of the January transfer window slip through their fingers and join a PSL rival last minute

Orlando Pirates are believed to be on the verge of making their first signing of the January transfer window.

According to reports on Friday suggested that Pirates were set to sign winger Thabiso Lebitso on a two-year deal.

This came promptly after Chippa United announced they had parted ways with Lebitso, after making 97 appearances for the club. The news came as a shock for many in the football fraternity has the player had become a club stalwart. He was also just three games away from the 100 appearances milestone for club. According to iDiski Times his move to Pirates is already a done deal.

“Orlando Pirates have completed the signing of former Chippa United winger Thabiso Lebitso. A close source confirmed to iDiski Times that Lebitso has now signed with Pirates. It is understood that a two-year contract with an option to extend has been agreed.” Wrote the publication.

With that deal already thought to have been concluded, a shock report from Soccer-Laduma has since come out. The publication seems to hint that the move taking Lebitso to Pirates is not yet done. It further suggests that Sekhukhune United could be looking to hijack the move. 

SEKHUKHUNE SET TO HIJACK ORLANDO PIRATES’ LEBITSO DEAL?

“Also linked to Kaizer Chiefs in recent times, Lebitso appears to have attracted interest from Sekhukhune head coach Lehlohonolo Seema, who has worked with the player previously at Chippa. Lebitso has also been linked with a move to Orlando Pirates, as per local reports on Friday.” Wrote the publication.

It might happen that the latter report may have been written before the update of Lebitso having signed for Pirates. If the move does prove to be true, the player will add to an already long list of attackers. The club already boasts a plethora of options in the wide areas so he will have to be ready for the competition.
