Mamelodi Sundowns recorded a 3-1 win over Marumo Gallants on Tuesday to overtake Orlando Pirates on the log.

The Brazilians now top the Betway Premiership standings with 50 points from 21 league games.

They are two points ahead of second-placed Pirates who dropped two crucial points at home against Siwelele FC last weekend.

Now, the win saw Sundowns stretch their unbeaten run at home to 19 since Miguel Cardoso took over as head coach.

Just recently, their striker Iqraam Rayners became only the fifth player in PSL history to score 10+ in three consecutive seasons.

SUNDOWNS’ TOTAL DOMINANCE AT HOME

According to OptaJabu, Sundowns have now gone 19 league games without losing since February 2025.

They have won 18 of those matches, drawn just one, and have collected a remarkable 55 points out of a possible 57.

That draw was against Pirates at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 1 November 2025 where Peter Shalulile and Camren Dansin scored.

Another interesting stats is that Sundowns have never conceded more than one league goal at home since the 2021-22 season.

They have since gone 54 league matches at home without allowing their opponents to score more than just a goal.

STRONG TITLE CONTENDERS?

Sundowns are definitely strong title contenders, and favourites to win what would be their ninth league title in a row.

However, Pirates are also in contention for the title, and Abdeslam Ouaddou has declared that they will not hand it to Sundowns on a silver platter.

The Tshwane giants will return to league action on 7 April when they visit Durban City.
