South Africans Abroad: Al-Ittihad keen to pay Rulani R1.4 million BUT…
Rulani Mokwena had an opportunity to link up with Thembinkosi Lorch at Al-Ittihad but that proposed move is on hold.
Libyan giants Al-Ittihad Tripoli are reportedly keen to pay South African coach Rulani Mokwena a whopping R1.4 million per month.
Mokwena is currently on the books of Algerian outfit MC Alger, and reports of him being wanted by Al-Ittihad are well-documented.
Those reports came on the back of MC Alger’s loss to Mamelodi Sundowns which ended their CAF Champions League run.
Furthermore, MC Alger were going through a slump under the watchful eye of Mokwena in the league.
However, they still did enough to hold on to their top spot in the Algerian Algerian Ligue 1.
As things stand, MC Alger are on 40 points after 18 games; three points ahead of second-placed CS Constantine with four games in hand.
Mokwena’s future looked bleak for a number of weeks but Foot Africa reports that the MC Alger management has decided to retain him.
The publication further reports that Al-Ittihad enticed the 39-year-old mentor with a R1.4 million-per-month salary.

SOUTH AFRICANS ABROAD: RULANI SAY NO TO R1. 4 MILLION SALARY OFFER
“Mokwena reportedly rebuffed Ittihad’s offer worth in the region of €75 000 (R1.4 million) per month in favour of seeing out the season with MCA,” reads part of the report.
“Though his immediate future appears to be resolved, insiders close to the club told this publication that both parties will review the situation once again when the season ends.”

MOKWENA EYES HIS FIRST LEAGUE TITLE ABROAD
Having secured the Algerian Super Cup trophy in February, Mokwena is eager to win his first league title Abroad with MC Alger.
Currently on 40 games with 12 games still to play, Mokwena’s MC Alger could finish the season on 76 points provided they win all their remaining games.
And that would be enough for the young South African coach to clinch his first championship on foreign soil.
