South Africans Abroad: Alwande Roaldsoy signs for Dutch side

Alwande Roaldsoy was born and bred in uMzimkhulu, but left South Africa for Norway at a very young age with his parents.

South African-born midfielder Alwande Roaldsoy has found a new home in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Roaldsoy has signed for Sparta Rotterdam from Norwegian outfit Molde FK as he continues to move up the ladder.

The 21-year-old midfielder has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Rotterdam, meaning he will be there until 2030.

WHO IS ALWANDE ROALDSOY?

Roaldsoy was born in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa on 9 June 2004. His mother is South African while his father is Norwegian.

After spending a few years in KZN, the family then moved to Norway where Roaldsoy started his development.

He has played for a number of clubs abroad, including Atalanta and Eliteserien among many others.

Roaldsoy has 139 competitive matches, including for the U18s, under his belt despite being only 21 years of age.

He has represented Norway national teams at U15, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U20, and he looks set to choose their senior national team over South Africa.
