South Africans Abroad: Benni McCarthy talks Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs know where to find Benni McCarthy if they need his services but for now, the Kenya national team coach feels they are ‘happy’.
Former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy has addressed questions on whether or not he’d consider coaching Kaizer Chiefs.
McCarthy is currently head coach of the Kenya senior national team alongside Moeneeb Josephs who’s their goalkeeper coach.
The pair were roped in to ensure that Kenya is ready to compete when the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Kenya will be co-hosting the 2027 AFCON tournament with Uganda and Tanzania.
And while McCarthy’s future looks secured at least until after the tournament in East Africa, he appears to be open to other job offers.
Speaking to Robert Marawa on 947 on Tuesday, McCarthy said he feels Chiefs are happy with what they have hence they have not approached him.
Furthermore, McCarthy said Chiefs know where to find him if they really need his services but reiterated that him being linked with them is still a rumour for now.

SOUTH AFRICANS ABROAD: BENNI MCCARTHY SAYS KAIZER CHIEFS ARE HAPPY
“They are happy man,” said McCarthy.
“But listen they a good team, very good players. If nobody came knocking on my door, that means they are happy.
“They happy with what they have. Because if you come knocking on someone’s door, you approach them.”
“If they want [me], they know where I am. They know where to find me. They know how to make it happen. A rumour is just a rumour,” added McCarthy.

SHOULD AMAKHOSI CONSIDER THE EX-PIRATES MARKSMAN?
Kaizer Chiefs are currently coached by both Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, and the management appears likely to keep them until the end of the season.
Benni McCarthy is a proven serial winner with PSL experience gained from coaching Cape Town City and AmaZulu.
And thus, he wouldn’t need time to adapt to PSL football should Chiefs consider him as an ideal candidate to lead them.
But one thing for sure is that Amakhosi need a coach that will ring changes to how the team is doing things right now.
