Bafana Bafana and FCSB defender Siyabonga Ngezana has reportedly refused to undergo surgery.

This was confirmed by outspoken FCSB president Mihai Stoica, who said the club CANNOT force Ngezana to do what he doesn’t believe in.

Ngezana is suffering from a torn meniscus; a knee injury where the cartilage between the thighbone and shinbone tears.

And the South African defender has been carrying the injury for quite some time with doctors struggling to find the problem.

Now, after the discovery of the injury, FCSB doctors advised Ngezana to undergo surgery so that he can heal but he turned down the proposal.

Stoica said they cannot tie Ngezana to the bed if he continues to refuse to undergo surgery.

“We cannot force a footballer to accept an intervention, if he believes he should not accept it,” said Stoica as per Fanatik.

“We cannot do something like that. We have no way. What do we do, tie him to the bed?”

NO ACTION FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON?

These latest developments could mean Ngezana may not play for FCSB in the remaining matches of the season.

And that could dent his dream of playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup which gets underway in the next 100 days.

The 28-year-old defender is currently one of Hugo Broos’ integral players in the Bafana Bafana setup.
