South Africans Abroad: Sundowns target extends stay in Austria
Sundowns were recently reported to be keen on bringing this former PSL star back from Austria but that door is temporarily closed.
SV Reid attacker Antonio van Wyk will stay in Austria for one more year after the club triggered an option on his contract.
Van Wyk’s contract with SV Reid was up for renewal in June, but the management felt the need to keep him for another season.
This means the 23-year-old will be on the books of SV Reid at least until June 2027 which would complete his three-stay with SV Reid.
Just recently, Mamelodi Sundowns were reported to be keen on signing Van Wyk but SV Reid have closed that door for now.
Van Wyk joined SV Reid in September 2024 from Stellenbosch FC, and he has gone on to become one of their key attackers.
It is also worth mentioning that the South Africa youth international is playing alongside former Kaizer Chiefs skipper Yusuf Maart at SV Reid.
Van Wyk expressed delight in staying with SV Reid for at least another season, saying the club and the fans have been good to him.
