Thamsanqa Gabuza pleads poverty, spent night in holding cells

His lawyer told the Magistrate that Thamsanqa Gabuza had not been paid yet for this month and that his wife was not employed.

Former Orlando Pirates striker Thamsanqa Gabuza is believed to have spent a night in the holding cells following an alleged incident of malicious damage to property. 

According to Sunday World, ‘Ganda-Ganda’ was arrested on Tuesday night for alleged malicious damage to property.

The 36-year-old made a brief appearance in the Alexandra magistrate’s court on Wednesday.

THAMQANQA GABUZA ARRESTED

Thamsanqa Gabuza was granted bail of R3000 but did failed to pay it immediately as he pleaded poverty. His lawyer Themba Ngobeni argued that his client could only afford R2000 as per Sunday World.

“It is not yet month-end and he is married with children. The wife is not working. He can only pay R2 000, which is readily available,” said Ngobeni. 

Magistrate Peggy Senne set a bail of R3000 which Gabuza’s camp managed to pay before the ex-Orlandp Pirates man was released.

The bail was set with conditions that he is forbidden from making any contact with a witness.

The TS Galaxy star was also ordered to attend all court hearings.

His next court date has been scheduled for 11 December 2023.
