A dashboard camera (dashcam) in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, has captured an aggressive driver’s actions backfiring on him (or her).

The video footage was uploaded to CICA – Crime Intelligence & Community Awareness – South Africa, a facebook page that was set up to report major crimes and events which may effect the community.

According to CICA the incident occurred in Durban, KZN. CICA wrote: “Cars having a street fight. BMW X5 driver with road rage tries to push a VW Polo off the road and gets his deserved share of karma.”

JL Reevo Reeves, brother of the VW driver Ryan, told SAPeople the BMW driver had been pushing cars out the way all along, and had slowed down to verbally attack Ryan. Ryan “told him to get lost with a wave of his hand” and that’s when “he deliberately tried to go for him”.

Fortunately it appears nobody was injured in the above footage. According to figures released in January by Transport Minister Dipuo Peters, over 1,700 people died on South Africa’s roads during the festive season (1 December 2015 to 11 January 2015), 14% more than the year before.

The department’s Director-General, Pule Selepe, said: “We need compliance… Until we have a change of mindset that says road safety is everyone’s business, we will not overcome the carnage on our roads.”
