A former flight attendant, Adrian Thomas, was shocked yesterday when a video he uploaded back in August 2013 suddenly went viral on social media. The video has clocked up over 665,000 views on Facebook after it was posted on 8 January by Abu Kad who said “Kulula doing what they do best. Always fun travelling with them! Lol. The talented Adrian Thomas.”
The video features Adrian delivering a flight safety demonstration, laced with typical South African humour.
Adrian told the KFM Breakfast show that it was a “major surprise” when it “went through the roof” yesterday. “Unbelievable,” he said, adding that he’s waited over three years “for a break like this”.
He hoped it would open some doors… and with the power of social media it has! OFM’s Afternoon Delight has made his showbiz dreams come true by hooking him up with comedian David Kau for his first stand-up comedy gig!
Being funny comes naturally for Adrian who comes from an entertaining family and likes “making people feel comfortable”. He credits his awesome accents in the video with having travelled extensively around the world.
One of his East London fans on YouTube said: “I was one of the lucky passengers on one of your flights and you are brilliant – so glad you’ve met David Kau and are joining the comedy scene!”
A few months ago Adrian had added a comment to the YouTube page saying “I am no longer with Kulula. Greener pastures.”
