Many of the kind deeds that take place every day in South Africa don’t make the news… so most of us are oblivious to the generous gestures made regularly by institutions like Joburg Theatre (and many more). But this pic was too gorgeous to pass by without sharing.

It captures the sensational smiles and happy hearts of a group of grannies who got to visit the theatre for the first time in their lives today.

The Granny Club, which meets every Wednesday, is one of several projects run on the informal settlement of Meriting in South Joburg by the Winnie Mabaso Foundation.

Foundation founder Lisa Ashton told SAPeople: “Joburg theatre gave us free tickets – they are always so generous to us… none of the ladies have ever been to the theatre before let alone the ballet!”

According to Lisa, the theatre often gives the Foundation tickets for the orphaned children “but this is the first time we have been able to take our grannies”. Looking at this priceless photo and their happy faces, we hope this is not the last time!
