Matwetwe 

Matwetwe (Wizard) is a hilarious coming-of-age adventure directed by comedian Kagiso Lediga (Queen Sono), with Black Coffee as executive producer. It follows Lefa (the late Sibusiso Khwinana) and Papi (Tebatso Mashishi), best friends and recent high school graduates, on the hustle of their lives. Stream it first on Showmax from 5 March.

South African Stand-Up Comedy Specials 

Showmax reaffirms its position as the home of South African stand-up comedy this month, with specials from favourites like Tsitsi Chiumya, Robby Collins, Schalk Bezuidenhout joining the ranks of the likes of David Kau, Celeste Ntuli, Lazola Gola, Kate Pinchuck and David Levinsohn. Stream new specials from 5 March.

Frank & Fearless 

Leon Schuster is back in this comedy adventure. When a rhino calf is orphaned by poachers, ten-year-old Fearless decides to take action. Teaming up with unlikely compatriots Dog and lovable rogue Sonny Frank, they set out to seek justice. But they soon run up against some merciless poachers. Stream from 23 March.

Skemerson

Westworld S3

Westworld is a futuristic playground for the well-connected, where its human guests play the hero or villain and its hosts are programmed to play along. That is, until Dolores, the park’s oldest host, starts to come unplugged. The third season sees the action come ever closer to the real world. Noughts + Crosses 

The highly anticipated BBC sci-fi adaptation of Malorie Blackman’s best-selling novel series is set in an alternative universe where black “Cross” people rule over white “Noughts”. Against a backdrop of prejudice, distrust and rebellion, childhood friends Sephy and Callum must fight for more than simply the right to be together. 

The series was shot in South Africa and stars some familiar faces, including Masali Baduza (Trackers) and Bonnie Mbuli (Catch a Fire). Stream it express from 12 March.

Press S1 

Staffers at two newspapers – a left-leaning broadsheet and a right-leaning populist tabloid – fight for truth, entertainment and the ultimate scoop as two British newspapers go head-to-head in a press world fraught with scandals, under pressure from the 24 hour news cycle, and constantly evolving in the digital age. The Sun is also a Star 

If you’re a romantic at heart, or if you just need a good ol’ dose of the feels, this one’s for you. Natasha is not in the mood for romance when she meets a handsome stranger – but he’s determined to change her mind. It’s based on the book Nicola Yoon, who also wrote Everything, Everything. Stream from 12 March. 

The Hustle 

In this gender-flipped remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Anne Hathaway (doing a wonderful toff) and Rebel Wilson (doing, well, Rebel Wilson) are con-artists, one high-brow, one low-rent, both masters of the fleece, who team up for the ultimate scam. Stream from 23 March.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part 

It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens of Bricksburg – or should we say, Apocalypseburg? – are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. Stream from 29 March. 

Non-fiction

Three Identical Strangers

Two young men are stunned when they run into each other in college and realise they are twins adopted separately at birth. But it gets weirder when a third brother comes forward. The documentary delves into the incredible story and the sinister mystery at the heart of it all. Stream from 5 March.

The Planets
