Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town may be closed to prevent the spread of coronavirus in South Africa, but the penguins are having a blast… and lifting the spirits of all those, preparing for lockdown, who have watched videos of the happy penguins not only going walk-about… but running and hopping too!

A few days ago Two Oceans Aquarium posted a ‘teaser’ after being asked if they would do similar videos to other zoos and aquariums around the world.

“It really lifts people’s spirits, especially when social distancing means no aquarium visits in person for the time being,” tweeted Sherran Clarence.

The Aquarium has obliged and the penguins look thrilled with the decision. Watch below as little Jasmin virtually jumps for joy!

Two Oceans Aquarium has been closed since 18 March, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and following President Ramaphosa’s recommendations during his State of Disaster speech.

The Aquarium said even though they are closed, their staff are still hard at work caring for their animals.

“For our precious #penguins, like little Jasmin, no public visitors means getting to have the Aquarium to themselves!” said Two Oceans Aquarium.
