Monday, 27 March’s Varsity Cup matches promise another blockbuster evening of action from around the country.

It’s the penultimate round of action as the battle for the coveted semi-final spots heats up.

UJ will host Maties in the day’s early match with the Stellenbosch side looking to cement a home semi-final.

Wits are up against winless defending champions UP-Tuks in a 17:00 clash, while in the two 19:00 matches, UCT Ikeys welcome log leaders NWU Eagles to the Green Mile and UFS Shimlas host CUT.

In terms of the log heading into the round, NWU Eagles lead the way on 22 points with Maties in second (19 points) and fellow Cape university UCT in third (16 points). CUT round out the top 4 places, also on 16 points.

Shimlas in fifth (15 points) and Wits in sixth (13 points) still have semi-final chances, while UJ (9 points) and UP-Tuks (5 points) are out of contention with just two rounds remaining.
