Last week, Chiefs were linked to the signing of Congolese midfielder Fabrice Ngoma, and now it the name of Tatenda Tavengwa that has popped up.

Ngoma was an obvious link for Chiefs, having previously been of interest to the club. The events of him terminating his deal at Sudanese giants Al Hilal, straight after link of a move to Amakhosi resurfaced, made things more suspicious. Now while an approach could still be made for the player, since he will be a free agent, it seems the Glamour Boys have not limited their search for a defensive midfielder to just him. According to the latest reports in Zimbabwe, they are keen on signing Venda FA star Tavengwa.

Tavengwa only joined Venda FA at the beginning of the recently concluded season, and impressed for the Motsepe Foundation Championship side. His form in the second tier of South African football saw him attract the interest of several topflight giants including Soweto giants Chiefs and Swallows. It is also thought that Nedbank Cup finalists Sekhukhune United are also in the mix for his signature. Now according to reports in his homeland, Amakhosi and Babina Noko all trail the Dube Birds in the race to sign him.

CHIEFS SIGNAL INTEREST IN TAVENGWA

“Talks are ongoing, Swallows are very interested and they have made an official offer which they are still negotiating, Sekhukhune have also inquired about the player and they are still yet to make an official offer just like Kaizer Chiefs. Kaizer Chiefs made their intentions known recently but I’m still yet to get anything concrete from their end, as things stands, Swallows are in pole position.” Said the source from Tavengwa’s camp to H-Metro.

It would come as a surprise if Chiefs are really interested in Tavengwa, with his name not being mentioned before. More so, the fact that he currently plies his trade in the lower division.
