
Bad news for South African motorists who missed the chance to fill up
The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced the official fuel price changes for July 2025.

The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced this month’s official fuel price adjustments, which took effect at midnight on Tuesday, 1 July.
The news hit South African motorists hard, and it got even worse for those who didn’t fill up before the deadline.
Petrol prices increased by 55 cents per litre for 93 octane and 52 cents per litre for 95 octane, while diesel rose by 82 cents per litre for 0.05% sulphur and 84 cents per litre for 0.005% sulphur.

FUEL PRICE IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPACTED BY TWO MAIN FACTORS:
1. The international price of petroleum products, driven mainly by oil prices
2. The rand/dollar exchange rate used in the purchase of these products

At the time of publishing the brent crude oil price is $67.15 a barrel.
Exchange rate
At the time of publishing the rand/dollar exchange rate is R17.69/$.
The next price changes for both petrol and diesel will be confirmed early next month with the new prices taking effect at midnight on Tuesday, 5 August 2025.
