Gauteng braces for rising temperatures from Wednesday
Gauteng residents should prepare for changing weather this week, as forecasters forecast a sharp warming trend beginning Wednesday.

Gauteng residents can expect a change in weather this week, as forecasters predict rising temperatures from midweek. Pretoria could reach highs of 29°C by Friday, marking one of the warmest post-winter periods so far.
Mild temperatures start the week
The week started with mild, partly cloudy weather across much of Gauteng, with Pretoria and Centurion reaching 22°C on Monday.
“Gauteng is going to be partly cloudy throughout your Monday, with highs of 22°C for Pretoria and surrounding areas,” explained Joel Guy, a weather forecaster.
Breezy but dry conditions have dominated much of the province, setting the stage for the incoming warmth.
Light drizzle in the far North
Forecasters noted a slight chance of drizzle in Gauteng’s northern and eastern parts. Despite this possibility, widespread rainfall is not expected.
“There is a chance of drizzly conditions this morning in the far north, but much of Gauteng will stay dry,” Guy confirmed.
If the drizzle develops, it will not significantly affect the broader weather pattern. Most areas remain under stable skies, with limited cloud cover expected later in the week.
Significant warming ahead
The most significant change will come on Wednesday, as temperatures rise sharply under clear skies. Pretoria could hit 29°C on Friday, with other parts of the province also experiencing above-average warmth.
The dry conditions accompanying the heat will make it uncomfortable for residents unprepared for the sudden temperature rise.
