Nine-hour power outage set to hit 10 areas in Gauteng on Friday

Eskom will carry out critical maintenance on its distribution network in parts of Gauteng, causing a power outage on Friday, 29 August.

Eskom has scheduled a nine-hour power outage in parts of Gauteng on Friday, 29 August, from 9:00 to 18:00, due to planned maintenance.

ESKOM SCHEDULES NINE-HOUR POWER OUTAGE IN GAUTENG

Eskom announced that maintenance on the distribution network will disrupt electricity supply in Soweto.

The power utility said the planned outage will affect customers in Central Western Jabavu (CWJ), Dlamini, Dube, Jabavu, Klipspruit, Mofolo North, Molapo, Moroka, Pimville, and Rockville on Friday, 29 August, from 9:00 to 18:00.

“Eskom in Gauteng conducts planned maintenance on the distribution electricity network across the province as part of its maintenance plan. It is essential for maintenance to be conducted to service the infrastructure to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the electricity supply,” Eskom added.

On Wednesday, 27 August, the power utility also conducted maintenance, which resulted in a nine-hour power outage in Duduza.

The power utility said the planned power outage affected customers in Bluegum View, Zamane, and the Zamane informal settlement from 9:00 to 18:00.

RESIDENTS URGED TO TREAT ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES AS LIVE

In the interest of safety, Eskom said customers should treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power outage.

“Eskom would like to thank you for your cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience that this maintenance may cause.”
