A planned 8-hour power outage will affect 10 suburbs on Thursday, 11 September 2025, and Monday, 15 September 2025.

“The interruption is necessary to do essential maintenance work on our network, which is part of our program of constantly striving a better service,” the City Power statement read.
The outage will occur at Brandweer Switching Station from 9:00 to 17:00 and at Country View Ext. 3 Station:
POWER OUTAGE TO AFFECT THESE AREAS
These are the areas that will be affected by the power outage:
- 3rd and 7th Road
- Segal Street
- Unisa
- Forbes
- Midway Heights
- 1st and 3rd Road
- Part Harry Galaun Drive
On Monday, 15 September 2025, from 9:00 to 17:00 the power outage will occur at Country View Ext. 3 Station:
- Savannah Hills
- Azalia Street
- Tumbleweed Street
LOW VOLTAGE CABLE THEFT RESULTS IN POWER OUTAGE IN VINTAGE STREET
Thieves stole low voltage (LV) cables, causing a power outage in Vintage Street and surrounding areas.
The power utility urged customers to report fraudulent activities such as illegal connections, theft, and vandalism by calling 011 490 7900 or 011 490 7911, or by sending a WhatsApp message to 083 579 4497.
CITY POWER SYSTEM CURRENTLY DOWN DUE TO TECHNICAL ISSUES
City Power is currently experiencing technical glitches in the system it uses to track service requests.
These glitches will also affect SMS notifications, preventing customers from receiving updates on the progress of their reported issues.
“At this stage, we do not yet have an estimated time for full restoration of services,” mentioned City Power.
The power utility expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.
