The Kiffness – real name David Scott – has clapped back at claims that he lied about losing a half-million rand business deal over his support for right-wing conservative Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead last week.

The Cape Town musician grabbed headlines after posting a screenshot of a rejection letter, which he claimed was linked to his social media posts.

THE KIFFNESS DENIES CLAIMS HE ‘LIED’ ABOUT R500K DEAL?

On Monday, 15 September, The Kiffness trended on the X app when he posted: “Just lost a R500k campaign because I defended Charlie Kirk”.

He added: “Worth it to be honest”.

The tweet was viewed almost two million times. It also had over 2000 comments, many of which questioned the authenticity of the muso’s allegation.

On X, Kaya FM presenter Sizwe Dlomo replied: “Who was dumb enough to pay you R500k to begin with?”

A few brand managers also questioned the validity of the claim.

@jkarguile: “As someone who manages campaigns for the biggest brands in the country, I can tell you with 100% certainty that no one is paying The Kiffness R500k for a campaign”.

@ImmortalSoso_: “From handling campaigns for some of the biggest names around, I can assure you there isn’t a single brand dropping R500k on The Kiffness. Lying unprovoked”.

Although he did not address much of the criticism, The Kiffness did find fault with a journalist who claims he was “caught in a lie”.

He sarcastically asked: “Sure you want to go down that road?”
