Power outage to hit 20 Johannesburg areas
City Power Johannesburg will implement an 8-hour planned power outage that will affect 20 areas across the city on Saturday, 20 September 2025.

The outage will take place at Industria Substation from 9:00 to 17:00.
“As the supply may be restored at any time, customers are urged to always treat their electricity supply points as live,” mentioned City Power.

ESKOM PARTNERS WITH ELECTRIC CAR COMPANY
On Tuesday, 16 September 2025, Eskom partnered with BYD Auto South Africa to support the launch of the company’s Dolphin Surf.
The Dolphin Surf is a compact, affordable, all-electric vehicle (EV) designed to accelerate the country’s shift to sustainable transport.
Acting Group Executive for Distribution Agnes Mlambo stated that they are prepared to roll out accessible charging infrastructure across South Africa.
“Having successfully rolled out EVs within our fleet on 9 September 2025, we are ready to enable wider adoption by bringing practical and accessible charging infrastructure in South Africa,” Mlambo said.
