Good Samaritan steps in to help Thabo Bester’s mother
A dermatologist offered to help Thabo Bester’s mother, Maria ‘Meisie’ Mabaso, after her appearance in Beauty and the Bester evoked sympathy.
A skincare professional offered to help Maria “Meisie” Mabaso, the mother of convicted criminal Thabo Bester.
The offer followed Mabaso’s appearance in the Netflix documentary Beauty and the Bester, a three-part series exploring the life of Nandipha Magudumana, who helped Bester escape from prison in 2022.
Ironically, Nandipha herself was a celebrity skin doctor before her downfall.

South Africans expressed sympathy on social media for Maria “Meisie” Mabaso, the mother of convicted rapist, murderer, and fraudster Thabo Bester.
Many commenters highlighted Mabaso’s facial scars, reportedly caused by harmful skin products.
On Facebook, content creator Valentine Mathabo called on dermatologists to assist Bester’s mother.
One responded to the call, posting: “I just want to assist her in regaining her confidence.”
‘THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIM’
In a 2023 sit-down interview with eNCA, Maria Mabaso expressed shock at her son Thabo Bester’s criminal convictions and prison escape.
She explained that Bester was born as a result of rape and struggled with behavioral issues while growing up.
Mabaso believes her son suffers from an undiagnosed mental health condition.
She said, “There is something wrong with him. He needs help. We would like to help him, but we are also afraid of him.
“When you hear about the things he’s done, how can you not be afraid of him?”
