Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has made himself available for the Bafana Bafana job

The Bafana Bafana coaching job will become vacant after the 2026 FIFA World Cup as Hugo Broos will be retiring.

And while a number of former footballers have endorsed Helman Mkhalele for the job, Mosimane could also be a candidate.

Speaking with Robert Marawa on Radio 947, Mosimane revealed that the current crop of Bafana Bafana players interest him.

Mosimane has always maintained that he wants to return to international football, inviting national teams to come for his services.

The 61-year-old mentor coached Bafana Bafana between 2010 and 2012, and later returned to club football.

This was after spending over four years as Carlos Parreira’s assistant as he was groomed for the Bafana Bafana job.

PITSO MOSIMANE INTERESTED IN BAFANA BAFANA JOB

“There’s no any other better time to coach Bafana than now,” said Mosimane on MSW.

“We have a good generation of under 20s, under 17s. South Africa is in a good spot but sometimes we forget that we’ve been in this space before.”

“Yes, I’m available for a good project but you can’t just say, ‘Okay we drew yesterday, now let’s get him and then we draw again, and then we can’t fix it’.

“Those things, I’m not in line with them.”

SOUTH AFRICA’S MOST DECORATED

Mosimane remains South Africa’s most decorated coach with a record five league titles to his name among other trophies.

He had a stint with Al Ahly after leaving Sundowns whom he spent eight successful years.

Mosimane also coached in Saudi Arabia and in the United Arab Emirates before returning home to focus on his Youth Football project.
