Some followers have dubbed the singer “Greedy Styles”, expressing disappointment that he did not follow the lead of other artists who have fought to cap their ticket costs. The controversy even caught the attention of former bandmate Zayn Malik, who made a light-hearted jibe during his Las Vegas residency by thanking his audience for being there and adding, “hopefully the ticket prices weren’t too high”.
The cost of stadium entertainment
Despite the backlash, industry experts suggest these prices are a reflection of the rising costs associated with massive stadium productions.
Expenses such as venue hire, security, transport, and energy have all surged, often leaving artists to choose between high ticket prices or scaled-back performances.
For those who are still determined to attend, there is a small silver lining. Styles has pledged to donate £1 from every ticket sold for his UK shows to the LIVE Trust, a move that is expected to raise over £750,000 to help protect and support grassroots music venues.
