Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.
The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms, cautioning that heavy downpours, strong winds, and possible localised flooding may affect parts of the country.

Yellow level 2 warning: severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours leading to localised flooding of roads, bridges and low-lying areas as well as damaging winds, excessive lightning and hail, resulting in and damage to infra- structure and settlements are expected over Gauteng except the extreme southern parts, southern Mpumalanga except the extreme south-western parts, central and eastern parts of the North West, the extreme south-western parts in Limpopo as well as the western part
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Masilonyana Local Municipality in the Free State.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index is High
Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the Highveld and escarpment areas.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, Cloudy in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers in the southwest, otherwise isolated, except for the extreme south-east.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the west except in the extreme south-western parts.
Free State
In Free State, morning fog patches over the extreme eastern parts and along the Lesotho border, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers in the central and eastern parts.
Northern Cape
The day will start partly cloudy in the southern parts in the morning, and in the extreme east in the afternoon, otherwise fine and warm to hot. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-westerly.
Western Cape
Partly cloudy in the eastern parts, otherwise fine and warm to hot, but cool in places along the south and south-west coast. The wind along the south coast will be light and variable, otherwise fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly, becoming south-westerly along the southwest coast from the afternoon.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Extreme
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Partly cloudy and cool to warm, becoming fine in the afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southwesterly, becoming light and variable in the afternoon.
The Eastern half: The day will start cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain, but scattered in the east. The wind along the coast will be light and variable.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the extreme north-east. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate easterly to north-easterly.
