Nothing like spending a Sunday morning doing a walkathon with your pooch. Which is what some 1,000 Capetonians did this weekend, with dogs of every shape and size and breed.
The 22nd annual Wiggle Waggle, held in Constantia in the shadow of Table Mountain and with an impending rainfall, was in aid of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Grassy Park. Have a look who turned up for the shindig (is that shindog?).
The fashion of the day was most definitely kerchiefs (mostly bearing the SPCA motif).

And while some were quite reserved…

Others were quite nose-y.

Sizes ranged from really, really big…

…to so tiny you almost missed him.

Which is probably why some of the smaller guys hung out in groups…

…although twosomes seemed to be quite the rage.

While “cute” was most definitely the word of the day.

And of course the main slogan remained the ever-popular “Love me, love my dog.”

The first drops of rain didn’t seem to turn off anyone waiting to do the five kilometres…

Even the late arrivals. (Hurry, mom!)

But the first of four groups was already lined up and ready to set off!

And then they took the corner and headed down the first straight.

And by the end, it was time for a well-deserved rest. Well done, Murphy!
