Occasional sneezing is normal in dogs, but repeated sneezing may indicate an underlying issue.

Various reasons can cause this in dogs, ranging from minor to serious health concerns.

Understanding the causes can help you care for your dog better.

COMMON CAUSES WHY DOGS SNEEZE

Environmental pollutants like

  • air diffusers
  • scented candles
  • dust
  • pesticides

can irritate your pet’s nose and lead to sneezing.

Allergies can also be triggered by proteins in the environment or certain foods, causing sneezing and other symptoms.

Identifying the specific allergen and proper management are essential to help your pet with allergies.

Dogs can get nasal mites while playing or digging in the dirt. Nasal mites are small parasites.

The parasites are called Pneumonyssoides caninum or Pneumonyssus caninum.

This causes them to sneeze, too.

Sneezing can be a part of a dog’s social behavior, indicating excitement or happiness during play.

Dogs may also do so as a submissive gesture towards other dogs or humans

Excessive sneezing may be a sign of an underlying issue and should be addressed.

If an irritant is suspected, remove it from the dog’s environment.

If it doesn’t change, consult a vet to find the cause and provide treatment for your dog’s well-being.
