Since then, thousands of other disgruntled Old Mutual customers, including musician- Zakes Bantwini, shared their experiences, many accusing the insurer of being a scam.

After a week of customer backlash, Old Mutual management met with Molefi, her mother and lawyers on Tuesday to find an amicable solution.

“Old Mutual once again apologises for the way the issue was handled and recognises that this has been frustrating on the family”, the company says.

ZAKES BANTWINI

Countless customers have threatened to cancel, withdraw or move the investments and policies to other FSP’s. Old Mutual says the number of complaints received is worrying.

“We apologise unreservedly to all customers who have been unhappy with the service we have provided and we are continuously looking at ways to improve this”

On Sunday, The South African, revealed that his family was paid a pittance following his mom’s death. In response to Molefi’s post, the Grammy award-winning artist says they received R380 from Old Mutual.

“Only R380 we receive as a payout for my mother’s life cover with Old Mutual,” Bantwini wrote.
