The V&A Waterfront has unveiled plans for a R230 million superyacht marina, reinforcing Cape Town’s growing status as a global destination for luxury maritime travel. The development will introduce dedicated berths for large vessels, responding to rising international demand and increased yacht traffic in the region.

Set within one of South Africa’s busiest tourism hubs, the new marina will offer improved facilities, including secure berthing and premium services tailored to high end vessels. The project forms part of a broader expansion strategy aimed at boosting the city’s appeal to affluent travellers and positioning Cape Town as a key stop on global yachting routes.

Alongside the marina, the Waterfront is also progressing plans to expand the nearby Granger Bay precinct. This includes large scale upgrades such as land reclamation from the sea and the construction of new breakwaters to create a more sheltered and accessible coastal area. The expansion is expected to unlock additional mixed use development and public space along the shoreline.

Boosting Cape Town’s Global Appeal

The addition of a dedicated superyacht marina positions Cape Town alongside leading international destinations. With new berths and luxury infrastructure, the city becomes more competitive in attracting high value tourism.

Economic Growth and Investment

Projects of this scale typically generate widespread economic benefits. From construction to marine services and hospitality, the development is expected to support job creation and local business growth.

A Bigger Vision for the Waterfront

The marina and Granger Bay expansion highlight a long term vision for the V&A Waterfront. By extending its footprint and enhancing coastal infrastructure, the precinct continues to evolve into a world class destination that blends tourism, business, and lifestyle.

As these developments take shape, Cape Town is strengthening its position not only as a scenic destination, but as a strategic hub for luxury travel and maritime activity in Africa.
