Matthew Perry honoured in an emotional tribute at 2024 Emmys

On Monday, 15 January American actress Matthew Perry was honoured during an emotional tribute at this year’s Emmy Awards.

MATTHEW PERRY HONOURED AT THE EMMYS

The Television Academy honoured the former Friends actor with a performance of the hit sitcom’s theme song, I’ll Be There for You. The song was performer by singer and songwriter by Charlie Puth, who looked handsome dressed in Versace.

This was not the first time Charlie performed the well-known theme song. Last year, days after Matthew Perry’s death, Charlie who is a known Friends fan, Charlie performed the iconic song during his concert in Australia.

Matthew Perry died on 28 October 2023 after being found unconscious in his jacuzzi. The actor was 54 years old at the time of his death.

CAUSE OF DEATH REVEALED

On 15 December 2023 the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office noted that the Friends actor died of “acute effects of ketamine”. Matthew Perry’s death was also ruled as accidental.

According to Page Six, the actor’s autopsy report also lists drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine, an opioid, effects as other conditions that contributed to his untimely death.

Matthew Perry’s funeral took place at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California, and was attended by the actor’s close friends and family.

Matthew’s Friends co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox attended the late actor’s intimate funeral service.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” they shared in their joint statement following the news of Matthew Perry’s death in October.
